HOW TO GET PUBLISHED FictionWriters new anthology, POTPOURRI, is our first attempt at producing a publication which includes its membership as contributing authors. Due to the wonderful response of shorter stories received, we've decided to accept at least two stories of longer length.

All of the following details still apply to any and all new submissions.

We are looking for short stories, poetry and anecdotes to include in our first anthology publication, "POTPOURRI - An Assemblage of Stories and Poetry by New Authors."
All members of FictionWriters are eligible to submit potential entries. If you are not a member, all you need to do is join, free of charge, prior to submission. Enrollment procedures and the Membership Application Form are accessible from our Site Map Page, or you may JOIN NOW by clicking HERE.

Binding: Perfect Bound
Cover Pages: 100 lb Gloss - Full Color Front and Back
Text Pages: 60 lb Offset - Black Ink
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Step One:
- Send your full-manuscript to us in either .WPD, .DOC, or .RTF format. It should be sent as an email attachment to:

along with a one or two sentence paragraph included in the text window of your email explaining what your work is about.
Step Two:
- FictionWriters will briefly review your submission, but does not provide `proofreading' or other `editing services.' If, in our opinion, your work should seem to need the assistance of an editor or proofreading services before proceeding, we will be happy to recommend professional assistance outside of FictionWriters if you so desire.
It is the right of the author to be published if they choose to do so and FictionWriters will not refuse that right to any of its membership.
However, we wish to produce a quality product and the inclusion of work(s) needing further attention could tend to degrade the publication at the expense of other included authors' efforts.
There are many new writers who are only interested in sharing their literary or artistic endeavors with family and close friends without going to mass-market exposure. We understand, and that is fine with us. Those of you who fit this criteria should not be dismayed. In most cases, FictionWriters is able to offer the opportunity for you to do just that -- have your work prepared and published in a professional and finished book form with little expense to you, if any at all. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Once your submission has been approved you may either supply us with a black and white illustration to act as a "cover" page which will precede your story or collection of poetry and/or annectdotes. (All art must be submitted as a .jpg file and and adaptable to fit the page size stated above -- no bleeds are permissible for text pages.)
- You may also choose to include a 'mug shot' photo of yourself for inclusion with 'Author's Notes.' (Photos must be submitted as a .jpg file.)
- Provide us with any special Acknowledgements and/or Dedication text you would like to be included.
- The Final Requirement is to complete the "Release Form" which is available at the following link:

The "Release Form" is necessary so as to show proof that you are the author, you have sole rights to the work, and you are giving FictionWriters the permission to use your submitted work in the publication of note. YOU, as the author, will maintain all First Rights to the ownership of your work and at no time will FictionWriters hinder you in anyway of reusing it, or selling it, to any other type of media publication(s). You will also have the right to promote the publication to be known as "POTPOURRI" on your personal website. FictionWriters will supply you with graphics and other assistance needed (such as miniture front and back cover .jpg files, and sample excerpts) by request.
Preparing your script for publishing is the process of formatting it properly to fit its printed size and pagination requirements. This is a very precise procedure which must meet certain specifications and FictionWriters includes this service for FREE for all its publications. For a book to be Perfect Bound, it must be at least 40 pages, and not more than 800 pages, of text -- plus cover. As pertains to the publishing of POTPOURRI, FictionWriters reserves the right to alter or change the size, binding, or other specifications as necessary.
